At South Texas Spine & Surgical Hospital, we encourage the participation of visitors and family members as an important part of making your stay as comfortable as possible. We have all private rooms and allow visitors to wait in the room assigned during surgery. Our visitor hours include unrestricted visiting is from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and after 10:00 PM one adult visitor over the age of 18 is allowed to stay in the room with the patient.
If one adult (over the age of 18) would like to stay with patient overnight, please let the nursing staff know. At anytime that the nursing staff feels the care of the patient is compromised, visitation will be limited. No children will be allowed to stay in the room unsupervised.
Visitors with infectious diseases, particularly upper respiratory infections, should not visit post-operative patients because of the risk of surgical wound infections. We can supply masks and other protective equipment for short visits. If your visitor does have symptoms of an infection, please consult the nurse for advice regarding visitation.
For the security of our patients and staff, the hospital’s public entrances are locked after 5:00 P.M. Monday through Friday and all weekend. Visitors should be asked to use monitored entrance adjacent to the Emergency Room after that time.
For your protection, and that of your visitors, patient restrooms are for use by patients only. There are public restrooms throughout the hospital for visitors and staff.
